Family Support for Tarleton Student-Athletes
The Texan Legacy Student-Athlete Parent Support Fund supports Tarleton State University student-athletes who are raising children while pursuing their education. Tell us about your family, your responsibilities, and how support could make a meaningful difference. Selection considers each student-athlete’s individual situation; you do not need to prove an unpaid childcare bill or a funding gap.
Award amounts, deadlines, available funding, and final cycle rules have not been announced. You may submit preliminary responses below. Submission does not guarantee eligibility, selection, funding, or a response time.
Proposed eligibility
- Be currently enrolled at Tarleton State University and a member of a university intercollegiate athletics roster.
- Be a parent or legal guardian with responsibility for a dependent child’s care. All sports and genders are welcome.
- Share your personal situation, the challenges of balancing school, athletics, and parenting, and how Texan Legacy Group could help. No demonstrated unmet childcare expense, income threshold, or financial-gap calculation is required.
- Remain in academic good standing or provide a documented academic recovery plan supported by the university.
- Provide enrollment and parenting-responsibility confirmation if selected. Any details needed to arrange approved support will be discussed afterward; financial-need documentation is not an application requirement.
- Obtain written clearance from Tarleton Athletics Compliance and Financial Aid before any award or payment.
How applications will be reviewed
Kyle Miller will personally review each student-athlete’s story and may speak with applicants to better understand their circumstances and how support could help. Selection is based on his assessment of who would benefit most, considering family responsibilities, individual challenges, and the potential difference this support could make. There is no weighted scoring formula or requirement to demonstrate an unmet childcare expense. Athletic statistics, starting status, recruitment, and publicity value are not selection factors.
Final awards depend on available funding and the applicable program rules. Any potential conflict of interest will be addressed before an award is finalized.
What support can cover
Proposed uses include licensed childcare, after-school care, and reasonable approved care needed for academic or team commitments. Payments would go directly to an approved provider whenever practical, after university clearance. No payment is promised until a funding cycle and compliant process are confirmed.
This independent Texan Legacy Group program is not represented as endorsed by Tarleton. It is family-support assistance rather than a reward for athletic achievement. University compliance approval is required before disbursement.
